GeoField Privacy Policy

GeoField is a geological and environmental field-data collection application operated by Ammon Kennedy. This Privacy Policy explains what information GeoField collects, how it is used, and the choices available to users.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create a GeoField account, we may collect your email address, account identifier, and authentication information needed to create and secure your account. Passwords are handled by the authentication service and are not displayed to GeoField administrators.

Field data and user content

Depending on how you use GeoField, stored records may include:

• Sample information
• Project and dataset names
• Notes and descriptions
• Geological measurements, including strike-and-dip data
• Photographs and other uploaded content
• Dates, times, locations, and record identifiers

Location information

GeoField may collect precise location information when you use features that record GPS coordinates, map observations, or attach locations to field records. Location access is used only when permitted through your device settings.

Device and technical information

GeoField may receive limited technical information needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service, such as device type, operating-system version, application errors, and synchronization status.

• Save, organize, display, and synchronize field data
• Provide mapping, location, measurement, and export features
• Maintain application security and reliability
• Respond to support requests
• Diagnose errors and improve app performance

GeoField does not sell personal information.

GeoField does not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Cloud Services

GeoField uses Amazon Web Services, including AWS Amplify and related services, to support authentication, hosting, cloud synchronization, database storage, and file storage. Information may be processed and stored through these services as necessary to provide GeoField's functionality.

Data Sharing

GeoField may share information with service providers only when necessary to operate and support the application. GeoField may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users, or to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats.

GeoField does not share personal information with advertisers.

Data Retention and Deletion

Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide GeoField, maintain users' records, satisfy legal requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

Users may request deletion of their account and associated information, subject to any information that must be retained for legal or security purposes.

User Choices

Users can control permissions such as location, camera, and photo access through their device settings. Users may choose not to provide certain information, although some GeoField features may not function without the information or permission they require.

Data Security

GeoField uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect user information. However, no electronic-storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's Privacy

GeoField is not directed specifically toward children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as GeoField develops. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
